How to Plan and Design a Great Wedding Reception
One of the biggest dreams a bride has is to have a great wedding reception. Knowing how to plan a unique reception that reflects who you both are as a couple is the secret to having a meaningful and fabulous celebration. It is much easier than you think and not difficult to do at all, in fact, if you take my advice, you'll be well on your way to hosting a great wedding reception!
Make it about the two of you. Your focus should be about choosing a wedding theme that resonates with you and your fiance. It could be something that represents your history or that reflects a passion. For example, you might decide to do an all Italian menu, if on your first date with him, he took you to an Italian restaurant, or you might incorporate movies throughout the day if you and your fiance are both major film buffs. The point is, to find something that is special and that the two of you share in common, so that you can include it into your wedding reception.
Keep it subtle. At times, we can overlook what should be the main focal point of the ceremony and reception, when we're trying to include a theme. As an example, if you were to have in-your-face details of Star Wars figures as a wedding cake topper and an officiant dressed in a Darth Vader costume, it would be overkill, not to mention kind of creepy for a wedding. This would be completely distracting and it would take the eyes of your guests off the two of you. For a sophisticated and elegant approach to this, be subtle with your theme. If you were to be getting married in autumn, you could use gilded-leaf decorations atop the invitation, sugar leaves and mini pumpkins adorning the cake, and if you're planning to serve your guests soup, it could be served in hallowed-out pumpkins! This would be unique, fun, elegant and yet subtle, all at the same time. Your guests will enjoy the visuals of the reception and the two of you would be the focal point of the celebration, just as it aught to be.
Weave your theme throughout the wedding. A theme can be expressed so that your guests can experience it with their senses. If you were to be having a beach wedding, you could include seashell decorations, tropical foods and cocktails, calypso music and more. Use your imaginations and as you think about your selected theme, carry it continuously into all of your plans, including the invitations. Once you start to think and to look at it this way, you'll see how easy it really is to have a beautiful ceremony and wedding reception!
