How to Plan a Luxury Spa Bridal Shower

Give the bride-to-be a much needed rest and relaxation with a spa bridal shower theme party. Preparing for a wedding is stressful for almost every bride at some point along the way. This shower will give her a little time to pamper herself and to rejuvenate her mind, body and spirit before the big day.

A relaxing atmosphere, good food and pleasant conversation with her closest family and friends make this mini-spa experience one any bride will remember as a welcome release. And to help ensure that you don't miss out on this mini retreat, enlist two or three other attendees to help coordinate the facial masks and foot scrubs and to serve the smoothies. Here we'll cover your step by step plan for executing this great shower theme.

BATH SALTS INVITATION
For a fun spa bridal shower invitation you may want to use small handmade invitations that are filled with lavender bath salts and that bear the phrase "Come be pampered" on the outside. Who can resist an invitation that serves as a gift as well?

THE SHOWER DECORATIONS
Set a relaxing and soothing atmosphere that will allow the bride and her guests to relax and to unwind. A lavender and sage green color scheme will add to the calm setting of the party. Some ideas that come to mind include:

1. Display groups of various sized lavender and sage candles around the room, if you can't find these, then white or cream color candles would work well too

2. Place dried or fresh lavender flower arrangements around the room. This will automatically scent the room giving an aromatherapy experience as well!

3. Tie a lavender color ribbon around white hand towels and tuck them into wicker baskets or place them in a wooden box to be used when you do the facial masks.

4. Scatter some white bath salts and dried lavender around the serving table, this contrast will make the color of the lavender standout beautifully!

5. Play some soothing and relaxing music or nature sounds in the background to further enhance the spa experience.

THE MENU
Fresh fruits and vegetables, muffins, breads and dips make for outstanding finger food ideas. To help you get started, you may want to consider using these three recipes to whip up something in a flash.

HUMMUS DIP RECIPE
1 cup chickpeas, soaked and cooked
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Step 1. Mix chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice and water in a food processor for about a minute. Stir in the tahini and spices. Chill in refrigerator.

PITA WEDGES RECIPE
10-12 pita bread pockets
4tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons paprika
salt and pepper to taste.

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (191°C). Brush olive oil over each side of the pita bread and sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper. Cut pita bread into wedges and place on a baking sheet.

Step 2. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool, then store in an airtight container. Serve with hummus dip.

BERRY SMOOTHIE RECIPE
1 cup frozen strawberries or raspberries
1/2 cup frozen blackberries
1/2 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
1 1/2 cups milk

Step 1. Blend all ingredients to desired consistency. Prepare the smoothies before the shower and place in the freezer.

Step 2. Remove the smoothies from the freezer as guests start arriving to thaw some before serving. Serve the smoothies to guests as they are waiting for the facial mask treatment or foot scrub treatment to dry. Serves 3-4.

THE ENTERTAINMENT
The activities for this spa bridal shower will allow your guests to relax while having a great time! Guests can participate in two spa treatments, a facial mask and a foot and hand scrub, at their leisure during the shower. To ensure that everyone has time to engage in all treatments, have half of the guest do facials first, while the other half apply the foot and hand scrub. While waiting for the treatments to dry, they can eat, have plenty of girl talk while playing the Wedding Word Blackout Game we'll discuss later on in this article.

To get started with the beauty treatments, you'll need to prepare two or three homemade facial masks before the shower. As your guests arrive, have them wash their faces with a non alcoholic facial wipe and choose a mask to apply. Once they've applied their masks, it's time to relax for 15-20 minutes to allow the mask to completely dry. When the guests are ready to wash off the mask, hand them a towel and a washcloth that have been rolled together with ribbon (see above mentioned).

BANANA MOISTURE MASK - dry skin
1 ripe banana, mashed
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon yogurt

AVOCADO MASK - oily skin
1 egg white
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 avocado pulp, mashed

Mix ingredients and apply to face. Allow to dry on face for 15-20 minutes.

The next part of the spa bridal shower is to give the much needed tender loving care to those hard working hands and feet! Prepare a foot and hand scrub for each guest before the shower begins. For convenience sake, have a a plastic basin filled with warm water for every guest. To make life a little easier, have half of the guest do their facials, while the rest focus on the foot and hand scrub treatment and then switch, refilling the water basins with fresh water.

FOOT & HAND SCRUB
1 tablespoon of coarse, clean sand
1/4 cup light canola oil
1/4 cup liquid hand soap
1/4 cup sea salt
1/4 cup Epsom salt

Mix all ingredients and soak feet or hands for 10 minutes.

THE WEDDING WORD BLACKOUT GAME
Every spa bridal shower party needs a fun game and this one promises to be amusing for all. Prior to the shower date, prepare necklaces using lavender ribbon and a small washer imprinted with wedding-related words for each guest. You'll then choose one of the words to make off limits for anyone to say during the shower. When the guests start arriving, give her a necklace and tell her what word cannot be said during the shower. A person can steal a necklace from another individual when she hears her say the word. The person with the most necklaces at the end of the shower wins a prize! A great game, that will be a lot of fun for everyone.

THE Bridal Shower Favors
Since this is a spa bridal shower theme, the favors will have to be in line with this as well. You can already see that I love lavender, I would suggest giving a handmade elegant lavender-vanilla soap or if this isn't possible, a great alternative would be a travel size set of a body wash and a body lotion in lavender, tucked in a gift bag with some tissue paper, like this, the pampering continues even after the shower as you send each guest home with one of these treats.

THE BRIDAL SHOWER GIFTS
As the bride prepares for her new life, think about giving gifts that will make her life easier in her new home. Something that could relieve some stress and tension always is a welcomed and a much appreciated gift and every time she uses it, it will remind her of the great experience she had at the spa bridal shower you hosted, so encourage all of the guests to remain within the theme when buying gifts.

As you can see, you can give a fabulous spa bridal shower that won't hurt your budget, but that is sure to make everyone glee with delight and when its all over, they'll go home with smiles on their faces and a beautiful memory of the time and experience they shared. I hope you will consider using this spa bridal shower theme for the next shower you host. Live, love, laugh and have a great time!
